Professional Tips for Healthy, Beautiful Hair
Your curls are unique, and the care you give them makes all the difference. Follow these guidelines to maintain healthy, hydrated, and defined curls:
Products & Tools
• Professional Products: Using professional products, like Innersense, ensures your curls stay healthy and look their best. Purchase them in the salon or via the link provided below to receive 20% off refills on hairbaths, conditioners, and select stylers.
• Shower Head Filter: A shower head filter helps remove impurities, keeping your curls hydrated and healthy.
• Essential Tools: Use a microfiber towel, T-shirt, or flour sack towel to avoid frizz. Sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a silk bonnet to protect your curls overnight.
Washing & Hydration
• Hydration is Key: Water is your curls’ best friend! Always hydrate thoroughly when styling.
• Shampoo Routine: Shampoo no more than twice a week and no less than once a week unless we’ve discussed a custom plan.
• Never Brush Dry Hair: Avoid brushing dry curls unless you have a looser curl pattern and need to stimulate your scalp before showering.
Styling Tips
• Apply Products on Wet Hair: Apply your styling products on soaking wet hair (in the shower is ideal). Follow the techniques demonstrated during your visit for best results.
• Tangles: Use leave-in conditioner to gently separate tangles with your fingers. For stubborn knots, use a wet brush.
• Diffusing: Hover-dry to mimic air drying or gently lift the hair for added volume.
• Breaking the Cast: Once your hair is 80-100% dry, gently scrunch to break the cast for soft, defined curls.
• Avoid Over-Manipulation: Limit touching your hair while it’s wet or damp to reduce frizz and maintain curl definition.
Dos & Don’ts
• DO NOT sleep with wet or damp hair.
• DO NOT put your hair up or back while it’s wet or damp.
• Take a quality hair, skin, and nail vitamin (consult your doctor if needed).
